Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
I'm having trouble setting up my WS-2810, WS-2811, WS-2812 La Crosse Weather Station. It either doesn't connect to the outdoor sensors or doesn't stay connected.
A. Click Here for troubleshooting guide to the 2800 Series. The 2810 & 2811 are more prone to this start-up issue, but we have seen it occasionally in the 2812.

Q. How fast will I receive my order?
A. Small packages will arrive in 5 to 7 days or sooner. Oversize, freight shipments of grandfather clocks, bars, curio cabinets and other 75lb+ items ship via LTL carriers who typically require 10-21 days for delivery. There are many exceptions that will arrive much sooner. Under 300lb Howard Miller & Ridgeway will arrive between 7-10 Days from your date of order. And depending on how close you are to our various warehouses, even freight delivery can be within 3-5 days! You are welcome to call for a better estimate.

Q. My thermometer reads 120. It is 75 outside. What's wrong?
A. If you have placed your thermometer or outdoor temperature sensor in the sun or over a radiating heat source like a deck, driveway or drier vent (yes, that happened!), move your item to a shady spot and away from radiating heat sources. With electronic devices, remove all batteries for 15 mins. Then, reinsert the batteries in the OUTDOOR SENSOR FIRST. Then, reinsert batteries in your indoor base unit. Wait for 1 hour without touching the indoor unit. Let it settle in. Then, set your barometer.

Q. I'm sure that my weather data is wrong. The temps are too high by 3, the humidity is too low by 20pts, the wind is reporting at least 25% too low and my manual rain gauge shows 1.5" when the weather station says we only got 1.2". What's wrong?
A. The accuracy of electronic weather station data is directly correlated with the amount you spent on the unit. The less you spend, the less accurate a weather station will be. Generally, any amount you spend below $300.00 will produce an increasing variance in accuracy. While the discrepancies will be different with each brand, our anecdotal experience shows that less than $300.00 stations have two things in common: Humidity that generally reads low by as much as 6-8pts and wind that reports low by 25%-40%. Please read Choosing a Weather Station for an in-depth explanation.

Q. Why don't you carry Bulova and Seth Thomas Grandfather Clocks.
A. Bulova discontinued their entire line of wonderful grandfather & floor clocks last year (2010). Seth Thomas has been out of business for many years now.

Q. Your site says an item I want is out of stock. Yet, another retail says they are in stock. What's up with that?
A. Trying times produce desperate acts by desperate businesses. That said, smaller items may indeed be in stock at other seller's stores. But the bigger the item, the less likely this is to be true. Desperate sellers will lie to you, get your money, then make excuses for delays. Their plan is to give you $25 bucks back in a few weeks, $50 bucks a few weeks after that until they either deliver or cancel the order. Before you "trust", ask them if they can physically put their hands on the product and if it will be dispatched within 3-4 days.
Call us or write us. We will tell you in no uncertain terms the HONEST stock level at each of our warehouses and the manufacturer's warehouse(s).
